GOLIATH
The name should about sum it up.

In beautiful Valencia, California, there lies a mammoth of an amusement park. If you looked at some of the rides there, you might think it was Cedar Point: the Next Generation, however Six Flags Magic Mountain has created an outstanding array of rides. From Riddler's Revenge, the tallest and fastest stand-up coaster in the world, to Superman: the Escape, the 100mph, 400-foot-tall ride that is widely debated whether to be a thrill ride or roller coaster. Being located near Los Angeles, many of the movies with roller coasters or theme parks in them are filmed at Six Flags Magic Mountain, such as "National Lampoon's Vacation." SFMM also has world class coasters such as COLOSSUS, the suspended "Ninja," the oh-so-cloned inverted Batman: the Ride, the Coney Island Cyclone clone "Psyclone" (tongue twister!), and the incredibly tall looping Viper, and a few other roller coasters. GOLIATH will give Six Flags Magic Mountain 13 roller coasters, closely trailing Cedar Point. However, soon, the most incredible coaster shouldn't be Riddler's Revenge, or Viper, or Superman anymore, for GOLIATH is coming in 2000.

As soon as the orange and green track pieces started arriving, more rumors had started. There wereGoliath rendering rumors about calling it "Mutiny" and other such names. Then, came SFMM's press release. The Y2K addition to SFMM would be GOLIATH. The 255', Giovanola-designed roller coaster will be a extraordinary addition to the already-incredible arsenal of roller coasters at Six Flags Magic Mountain. At a towering 255 feet above the ground, the odd-looking Giovanola trains will dive down a 61° drop, reaching speeds of 85 m.p.h., but that's not all. As if a 255 foot drop wasn't enough, you then scream into a 120-foot long tunnel, which we can only imagine what will lie in the darkness. GOLIATH will twist around COLOSSUS, which was the largest wooden racing coaster when it opened. GOLIATH's 4,500' of twisting, spiraling course of hills and helixes will have your head in knots. GOLIATH's loading station is themed to be some sort of an Mayan/Aztec theme will towers and such. On November 11, the highest section of track was bolted on the lift, and the park expects the creation to be running in Spring 2000. Visit the Magic Mountain site here for even more information on GOLIATH and the park.

UPDATE: GOLIATH opened to the general public February 11, 2000. Expect more reviews to come!
