The newest B&M floorless will soon grace
SFFT.
The coaster manufacturers B&M have truly started something with their new
innovative floorless design. It all started with Medusa, at Six Flags Great
Adventure. The floorless design is brilliant in its simplicity. They are simply
slightly-reclined chairs with no floor, letting passengers dangle just feet from
the speeding track underneath them. Add this thrilling element, plus many
inversions to equal a great ride. Superman: Krypton Coaster all started as a few
track pieces, that were spotted in an area at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San
Antonio, Texas. Jason Knutson from Coasterphotos
also took some pictures and put him on the site. They looked like the station
for a floorless, but at the time this was happening, all of the floorless hype
was over Kraken at Sea World in Orlando, Florida. That changed when SFFT
released the scoop about Superman: Krypton Coaster.
Located in the
Rockville Section of Six Flags Fiesta Texas, near the rock quarry wall,
Superman: Krypton Coaster will take full advantage of its ingenious location, by
swerving into the wall, and by it at speeds of 70 m.p.h. The track, a wonderful
looking red and blue, is starting to take form. The floorless trains will make
their way up the 168-foot lift hill, on top of the rock wall. After making a
quick turn-a-round, and down, down, and away! Hitting 70 m.p.h. the train
will then blast into the first inversion: a 114 foot tall vertical loop. Other
inversions will include a zero-gravity heartline twist, a two-inversion cobra
roll, a 96-foot-tall diving loop, and a few corkscrews. The 4,025-foot-long
course also includes many banked curves and twists having some very close
encounters with the quarry wall. Superman: Krypton Coaster will have an
incredible ride time of 3 minutes and 20 seconds. I'm sure what Texas park most
enthusiasts will be heading to in 2000 will be.
