Review: Oklahoma is known best for its tornadoes and cows grazing on plains, but they also have a few good theme parks, including Frontier City just outside of Oklahoma City. A member of the Six Flags family and owned by premier parks, this small park offers 3 coasters and several thrill rides.

Frontier City is also one of the best themed parks I have ever been to. The western theme runs throughout and fits perfectly. The landscaping is done very nice, and this park has both a family - fun atmosphere AND a thrill seeker's.

The Diamond Back is the first of Frontier's coasters. It is a first generation arrow looper. You start at one end of the track raised about 50 feet. A small launching mechanism gets you up to speed on a small straight track and you dive down into a loop, up onto another track. There you get launched backwards (which is quite fun), and you get the whole ride in reverse. It is small, simple, but actually fun. The airtime is great when you go over the hill down into the loop.

The silver bullet is a clone of Viper at Six Flags Astroworld in Houston without the tunneled drop. It has a tunnel further down the course instead. The Silver Bullet is short, not intense, and actually not that much of a thrill. Skip it if you have to.

Then there's the Wildcat. ACE has taken this coaster from so low, to so high. Dedicated to preserving this beautiful ride, the queue house is a roller coaster museum. Yes, there is the history of coasters, and everything - its quite a tribute.

The ride on the Wildcat, is FUN. It's a great dive through the woods and the airtime is great. The dip under ground level at the end is fun - and this is one you can re-ride FOREVER.

As for the rest of Frontier city, they have the indoor Nightmare Coaster which is small and simple, pretty much a kiddy coaster.

Frontier City also includes a miniature train, an amphitheatre for concerts, and tons of new thrill rides (e.g. the mindbender, tomahawk, etc.) all western themes.

If you are stopping by Oklahoma City - don't make a bad choice and pass this place up. Six Flags Season Pass holders get in for only $10!
